In Hawaii (where surfing originated) this wave is called from behind.. maybe 8 foot or so. Then surfing came to California and everyone contorted everything and started calling the wave by it’s face, maybe 15ft. or so. (2x the actual size). Then surfing came to Japan where everyone calls the wave by the inside of the barrel it seems. I’ll never figure out the Japanese version of wave calling.
“Double over head” what does that mean? “Double over head” seems so vague to me. The Japanese are small, I always wonder “double over whos head, … yours or mine??”
I like to keep it simple. I call it like I see it: “farkin huge”.
